Description of the way my Advert would be composed

For this assignment, I created an advert promoting tourism to the moon.
I used my smartphone to record the narration of the script, two sound effects that I recorded and two online sounds for this advert from Bensound.com (2012). Below, I will be giving a detailed description of the way my advert would be composed.

My advert is 51 seconds long. The online sound effects I have chosen are All that and Creative Minds, which are both from Bensound.com (2012).
All that sound effect will be used as a jingle at the start of the advert for 5 seconds, after the 5 seconds the Creative Minds soundtrack will begin that will be played continuously throughout the voice-over.
I will start the advert with a rhetorical question to grab the listeners' attention so that it will make them want to listen to the entire advert. After asking the rhetorical questions, I will give the listeners information on the company that is organizing the trip about going to the moon as this will help them find more information.
I have then described some of the activities that will be offered on the moon to give an idea of what they may be missing if they don't go. After this, I informed the listeners that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, therefore persuading listeners to visit the moon.
All that soundtrack (jingle) will begin again for 5 seconds. After the 5 seconds, I will say my slogan and that will be the end of the advert.

In the advert, I will be adding two background sound effects which I have made and recorded. The first one is a wine glass sound effect. To make this sound I wet my index finger with water and rubbed the wet finger around the rim of the glass to create a 'singing' sound. I will use three seconds of this sound when talking about the Five-Star Blue Moon Hotel.
The second sound effect I used was the radiator to create a roller-coaster sound effect, where I used a pencil to slide across the radiator to create a rattling sound. I will be using this sound effect for three seconds in the radio advert when I talk about the flying roller-coaster.

Script for the Radio Advert

In my previous blog, I was told to download Adobe Audition but unfortunately, I was not able to download this software but due to the change in the assignment, I could record individual parts of my advert using my smartphone which was much easier for me.
I have ensured the script does not overfill with information as it could come across as forceful, therefore it was important for the script to contain the key details and made sure the listeners know where to get more information from.
Below is the script I have written for the advert.

Things my Space Tourism to the Moon will include

For Assignment 2 - A trip to the moon I was asked by my teacher to download Adobe Audition and write down 7 bullet points about what my space tourism to the moon will include.

The 7 things that will be included on the moon trip are:
  • A 5- Star Hotel
  • A Night Cafe
  • Sightseeing
  • Flying roller coaster
  • Spacewalk
  • Explore the history of the moon
  • Relaxation Spa
I will try to use most of these activities from the list above to encourage tourism to the moon but these will be used in a way that persuades people to visit the moon and have an amazing experience.

Assignment 2: Adobe Audition Audio Test

In this session, I was given an introduction to Assignment 2 called 'a trip to the moon'. For this assignment I have been asked to create a 30-40 seconds long radio advert that promotes tourism to the Moon. The advert is authorized by the British space company called 'Lunar-X'.

Today I researched the different online sounds from Bensound that I could use for assignment 2. For this advert I will be including a slogan for 'Lunar-X', two online music sound effects and two recorded sound effects.
I will be updating the blog regularly on the work I have been doing for this assignment.

I also learned how to use Adobe Audition to practice editing sound recordings by using existing sound files.
Below is a screenshot of a sound piece I created by downloading two mp3 music files from Bensound (2012). I imported the downloaded music using the 'media browser', this will appear in the 'files' menu in the top-left window. I used the 'time selection tool' to select a section of the song. Then chose edit and copy to New, this transformed the selected part of the music into an individual sound file in the files menu.

Session 6: Assignment Evaluation

Below I have created two alternative ticket designs for this assignment using Adobe Photoshop.

For the first Ticket design, I used a purple linear gradient tool as this will create a new dimension to the design. The use of a gradient can make the design feel modern and keep the audience engaged.

For the second Ticket design, I used a dark red color to make the ticket stand out. I decided to fill the information after the design is complete so that I could use the suitable font color to match the ticket design.

For both of the tickets, I have included important information such as ticket number, date of the event, time, location, seat number, and price. I used the horizontal type tool throughout these ticket designs to make the font clear and visible for the audience. I have used the same font and color for the title of the musical 'rewrite the stars' as I wanted to keep some of the features consistent in both the tickets.

Throughout Media Design for Event management module I have learned many skills related to Photoshop as the tools I used helped to unleash my creativity and I was able to expand my knowledge of editing skills.

Session 5: Assignment Evaluation

For Media Design and Event management, the assignment was to create a GIF Poster, a logo and 2 tickets. Below are the finished GIF Poster and logo for the movie 'The Greatest Showman' but I changed the title to make it my own. I used the tools that I learned throughout the module to create these on Photoshop.

Below is the logo. I wanted to maintain negative space throughout each task for the assignment to emphasize the musical and help to direct the audience's attention. I used the Paint Bucket tool to fill the background with purple. Then I used the magic wand tool to remove the background of the image and finally used the type tool to insert the text and used the desired font and text size.

Below is the GIF Poster. In this poster, I used the type tool to insert the location, the date and where to purchase tickets as this will help the audience to get more information on the musical. To create the GIF I went to window, created two frames and then I went to edit, transform and flip horizontally to change the direction of the silhouette image, therefore, creating a GIF.

Session 4: Poster Design and Layout

In this session I learned the importance of design principles, these include:

  1. (Negative) space
  2. Proximity
  3. Cohesion (repetition)
  4. Contrast
  5. Alignments
  6. Focal points
I will also be examining one poster design using some of the techniques that I have learned in the lecture such as the colour scheme, simplicity and the choice of Typography (combining text and image) to analyse the image. The poster I have chosen to discuss is called 'La Loie Fuller' by Jules Cheret. The story of the film was about a dancer who would wear shimmering and fine fabric and dance around the stage.

The use of black on the background indicates the main focus of the poster is the dancer as that is what the designer wants us to see.

The poster is very simple which shows me the designer wanted to keep it minimal which helps the audience to easily understand the poster and focus on the meaning of the image.

The choice of Typography enhances the poster as they have made the font really big and clear to grab the audiences attention but its easy to read therefore engaging the audience.
